Abstract
A reciprocating sliding tribo-meter with a block-on-ball configuration and active vibration reducing function is designed and manufactured based on Huygens principle. The frictional pair can run with and without system shock. By doing so, it can be learnt that vibration reducing device can effectively reduce the friction-induced vibration produced by shocking of the contacting asperities. It can reduce wear of the frictional pair and abrasive particles. Base on the viewpoint of tribo- thermodynamics, frictional power can be converted to frictional heat by the external active signal. The correlation between friction-induced vibration and other wear mechanisms is discussed.
