Friction and Wear Behavior of Welded Zone of Zinc-Based Alloy

Abstract
The friction and wear behavior of deposited metal and simulated HAZ samples of welded zones of fusion welded (TIG welding and gas welding) zinc based alloy were investigated with an MM 200 type ring on block test rig. The worn surface morphology of the samples was examined by means of scanning electron microscopy equipped with a transmission electron microscope attachment (SEM TEM). It has been found that the welded zones of fusion welded (TIG welding and gas welding) zinc based alloy shows better wear resistance than the metal matrix. Moreover, the deposited metal and simulated HAZ samples of TIG welded zones show better wear resistance than the corresponding gas welded zones.
