Abstract
An investigation is reported of the energy partition for grinding of granite with diamond grinding wheel. The temperature responses in the grinding zone were measured simultaneously using a two color infrared detector and a sandwiched foil thermocouple. The energy partition transferred to the granite was estimated using temperature matching technique and was found to be identicle while using the temperature responses from infrared detector and thermocouple. More than 60% of the heat generated at the diamond wheel workpiece interface was transferred to the grinding wheel.
