Friction and Wear Behavior of Ni-P-Carbon Nanotubes Electroless Composite Coating

  • Ni P CNTs composite coating as well as Ni P SiC and Ni P graphite coatings were prepared by electroless plating. The effect of heat treatment on the microstructure and tribological properties of the composite coatings was investigated. It was found that the Ni P CNTs composite coating exhibited higher wear resistance and lower friction coefficient than the other composite coatings. After treated at 673 K for 2 h, the wear resistance for all the composite coatings was improved. The friction coefficient of the other electroless coatings decreased, while the friction coefficient of the Ni P CNTs composite coating kept almost unchanged after heat treatment.
