The Anti scuffing Behavior of Mechanical Parts Treated Microprecisely by Laser under Grease Lubrication

  • The laser microprecision treatment is a laser scanning technology on the surfaces of mechanical parts to produce a man-made asperity texture that is favourable to lubrication of the part surfaces in relative motion. The asperity texture as a result of laser treatment with metal surface has high hardness and can retain the resultant surface topography. The results of point contact tests (SRV tests) and line contact tests (Timken tests) showed that the surfaces treated microprecisely by laser had higher anti scuffing capacity. This indicates that laser microprecision treatment has promising applications in tribology.
