Abstract
Galerkin
finite element method was used to evaluate the oil film stability of a spirally grooved liquid
lubricated journal bearing.The correction interation method was used to determine the
intersection of positive pressure region and cavitation region, on which the Reynolds pressure
conditions were exactly satisfied.The comparative calculations of design parameters (spiral
angle, groove depth, and groove width) were carried out to seek a parameter range
corresponding to high oil film stability of the grooved journal bearing.
