Abstract
The effect of cold deformation on the dry sliding wear behaviors of rapidly solidified Al 10Ti alloy at a low sliding speed of 0.66 m/s was investigated. It has been found that the wear mechanism of the alloy changes from adhesion to oxidation wear with the increasing of applied load. At adhesive wear stage, the wear resistance of the alloy decreases with increasing residual strain resulted from cold deformation. At the oxidation wear stage, certain degree of cold deformation can improve the wear resistance of the alloy because of work hardening.
