Abstract
The non-uniform load distribution model based on the minimum elastic potential energy criterion and elastohydrodynamic lubrication theory is applied to the research on helical gears. The pressure and film distributions are obtained from the multigrid method. The results show that the load and pressure reach their peaks around the pitch point while the film thickness grows slowly due to the both effects of load and equivalent radius. Along the contact line, the load has a parabola profile approximately, while the film thickness grows unilaterally and the pressure at the two ends is higher than that of the midpoints.
