Abstract
A novel potential non-phosphorus trioctyloxy triazine derivative (TONT) was synthesized. The tribological properties of TONT, commercial additive tricresyl phosphate (TCP) and mixtures of TONT and TCP with different mass ratios as additives in rapeseed oil were examined with four-ball tester. Worn surface morphology and element chemistry configuration of steel ball were analyzed by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results indicate that all additives increased the load-carrying capacity of the base oil. Both TONT and TCP improved friction-reducing and antiwear properties of base oil. combination of TONT and TCP showed synergistic effect in antiwear and friction-reducing in base oil. The additives reacted with counterface metal and generated a boundary lubricating and protecting film which improved tribological properties of the rapeseed oil.
