Abstract
Lubrication characteristics were investigated for three types of conventional sliders like plane slider,exponential shaped slider,and hyperbolic shaped slider based on the one-dimension flow equations for nematics.5CB or MBBA,which has different leslie coefficients,used as lubricant.The director angle played an important role in determining the lubrication properties,the effective viscosity,pressure,and loads rose with the increases of the director of the nematics.Of the three types of sliders,the pressure and loads increase as follows: plane slider,exponential slider,and hyperbolic slider.This validates the possibility to control the lubrication properties of a tribology system lubricated with nematics through altering the director.
