Study on the Tribological Properties of Six Typical Surface Enhanced Layers

  • The tribological properties of six surface enhanced layers which are of wide use at home and abroad were investigated using systemic analysis and modern microscopic examination. The wear tests of the friction pairs in which several surface enhanced layers are coupled with 40Cr or GCr15 were conducted, the test conditions are as follows: 500N of load, 0.42m/s of sliding speed, 10 hours of testing time and 20 machinery oil for lubrication. The test results were shown in Table 1 and 2. According to the results of Table 1 and 2, it can be seen that the an-tiwear properties of both sides of the pairs must be considered so as to select the friction pairs. If one side is of the good antiwear property, whereas the wear of the other side is high, this friction pairs is not available for practice application. The advantages and disadvantages of the six surface enhance proces-ses were analized and its application area was also discussed in this paper.
