Simulation and Analysis of Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Line Contact Problem under Sine Wave Vibration

  • It is of great significance in theory and practice to investigate the lubricating film characteristics under elastohydrodynamic lubrication in the presence of vibration. The line contact problem under elastohydrodynamic lubrication in the presence of sine wave vibration is simulated and analyzed by making use of multigrid method. The effect of various vibration parameters and loading parameters on the thickness of and pressure distribution in the lubrication film has been explored. As the results, the amplitude and frequency of sine wave have great influence on the lubricating oil film shape and pressure distribution. The squeezing effect becomes increasingly intensive with increasing frequency and amplitude of the vibration wave. The change of the dynamic loading amplitude leads to variation of the lubricating film central zone, while the increase in the frequency leads to considerable increase of the lubricating oil film thickness at the inlet and of the average oil film thickness in the central zone.
