Fractal Interpolation Simulation of Rough Surface Profiles

Abstract
Fractal interpolating theory of rough surface profiles is introduced based on concepts of fractal space and IFS. The method of simulating rough surface profiles with fractal interpolation function is also presented. Furthermore, turned, ground, and worn surfaces are simulated respectively with fractal interpolation function. The factors which govern the simulating effect are investigated systematically. It has been shown that fractal interpolation function is effective and feasible in simulating rough surfaces of fractal behavior.
