Research of Fractal Theory of Adhesive Wear of Engineering Rough Surface

Combined with the Greenwood Williamson theory, a new fractal contact model of rough surfaces was established. Based on Archard theory,a fractal model dealing with the adhesive wear and surface elastic and plastic deformation was established as well by taking into account the effect of shearing stress on the actural contact surfaces. The relation between wear and fractal dimension was examined. The results could be helpful to determining optimal surface dimension and reducing wear and processing cost.
