Abstract
Two organic molybdenum compounds, molybdenum di-2-ethylhaxyloxydi thiophosphate CYM-1 and YM-2) were synthesized and characterized by means of element analysis, infrared spectrum and ther-mogravimetric analysis, their molecular formulas are also determined as follows:
where, R is alkyl with more than 8 C atoms.
The antiwear and friction reducing properties of two organic molybdenum compounds were tested on Model STAN-Shell four ball tester (the test conditions: 1500rpm, room temperature, 30 minutes, 392N of load) 5 anti-galling load (PB Value) was also determined according to the GB 3142-82 method. The test results are shown as follows:
a. The friction coefficient of basic oil containing organic molybdenum compound is reduced by 40-60% comparing to that of basic oil.
b. The adding amount of additives is an influencing factor to the friction property of oil, integrating the load carrying capacity friction reducing and antiwear ability, the suitable content of organic molybdenum additive is 1-2 % .
c. The PB value has a 2-fold increase after adding 1% YM-1 or YM-2 to 10 basic oil, 10 engine oil and 10W-30 oil.
d. The organic molybdenum compounds(YM-1 or YM-2) used in combination with additive T202 perform well with excellent anti-galling pro-perties.
