Study on Finite Line Contact Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication under Oscillating Conditions

  • Numerical analysis was carried out to a finite EHL contact problem under osc logarithmic profile roller was assumed to have a sinusoidal velocity. Two coordinate systems illating Conditions. The were introduced respectively to resolve the periodic reverse of the inlet and outlet of the domain during a cycle of motion. The behavior of the pressure as well as film thickness was investigated and the effects of the oscillating frequency were discussed. It was found that with the increase in the oscillating frequency for a fixed oscillating angle, the film thickness increases, which may contribute to the formation of the oil film; however, the maximum pressure and the pressure scope during an oscillation cycle also increase; which may shorten the fatigue life of the bounding surface in the latter situation.
