The Effect of TiC-Fe3C on the Wear Resistance of Laser Cladding Layers in Grey Iron

  • Endogenous TiC was prepared in the cladding layer of grey cast iron with iron-based cladding materials. The effect of endogenous TiC and Fe 3C on the wear resistance of the cladding layer was investigated. As the results, the iron-based cladding material doped with Ti contributed to improve the wear resistance of the cladding layer considerably. This was mainly attributed to the formation of the TiC phase with extremely high hardness and the dispersive strengthening and fine-crystallite strengthening function of the endogenous TiC phase.
