The Research on Abrasion of the Impellers of Centrifugal Slurry Pump

  • The abrasion of the impellers of centrifugal slurry pumps was investigated using a two phase pump test system. The trajectories of solid particles moving through the blade to blade passage were numerically simulated. The weight loss method, coating method, and depth measurement method were applied to describe the abrasion intensity and abrasion patterns of blades. The relationship among abrasion and particle concentration, rotation speed of the impeller, blade geometry parameters, operation duration, and size of solid particle was discussed. It was found that the rotation speed of the impeller affected the abrasion intensity of the blades considerably. The inlet angle of blade obviously affected the abrasion intensity. The exit angle of blades had a slight influence on the abrasion intensity and strong influence on the abrasion patterns of blades.
