Abstract
Diamond-like carbon films were prepared by pulse arc ion plating on alloy substrate. The microstructure of the DLC films was analyzed using Raman spectroscopy. The friction and wear behavior of DLC films were evaluated by comparing with that of NiTi alloy with the same testing conditions on a UMT-2MT test rig. The films prepared by pulse arc ion plating had typical diamond-like characteristics and were tetrahedral amorphous carbon films. The DLC films showed good friction-reducing and antiwear behavior in different lubrication conditions. DLC films improved the biocompatibility of NiTi alloy.
