Abstract
In view of the problem that the ignorance on the influence of oil film lubrication for current calculation model of temperature field of double involute gears, based on the meshing characteristics of double involute gears, the TEHL model suitable for double involute gearswas established by adopting the idea of "subsection". A comprehensive finite element method and a TEHL method were used to study the bulk temperature, and the instantaneous temperature rise was studied by using the lubricating oil film as the heat source. Finally, the influence of the tooth waist order parameters on the temperature field of double involute gears and the difference from the temperature field of ordinary involute gears were analyzed. The results showed that the bulktemperature of double involute gearswas asymmetrically distributed along the tooth width, the highest bulk temperature of the driving gearwas inclined to the starting engagement at the tooth root, while the driving gearwas inclined to the ending engagementat tooth top.The instantaneous temperature rise of the oil film between the meshing tooth surfaces was significantly higher than that of the two gear interfaces, and the instantaneous temperature rise of the driving gear interface was higher than that of the driven gear. The change of the tooth waist order parameters had a minor effect on the temperature field of double involute gears. In addition, there was little difference between the bulk temperature and instantaneous temperature rise of double involute gears and ordinary involute gears.
