Abstract
The rutile film of was produced on TC4 surface by using the thermal oxidation (TO). The friction properties and wear mechanisms under the deionized water or PAO10 lubricated condition were studied. Results show that the thermally oxidized TC4 alloy exhibited excellent tribological properties. Compared to the untreated TC4, the wear rate of the TO-TC4 reduced by 99% (50 N, 5 cm/s) and 98% (10 N, 9 cm/s) under lubrication of both PAO10 and deionized water.
