Abstract
Few-layer fluorinated graphene (FG) nanosheets were prepared by planetary ball milling of bulk fluorinated graphite (FGi), and then their morphology and microstructure were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The tribological properties of the FG nanosheets as additive in poly alpha olefin base oil (PAO-8) were investigated using an oscillating reciprocating friction and wear tester (SRV-Ⅳ). Experimental results indicate that the addition of FG nanosheets effectively improved the load-carrying capacity and anti-wear ability of the base oil, and the optimal concentration of the FG nanosheets in PAO-8 was 0.30 mg/ml.
