Abstract:
The friction coefficient of basalt against basalt under high speed sliding was examined on an MM 1000 test rig. The variation of the friction coefficients with the load applied, the sliding speed, and the friction surface properties was investigated. As the results, the changing tendency of the friction coefficients is dependent on the load, sliding velocity and surface characteristics of the frictional pair. With increasing of the sliding velocity the friction continuously drops down. The friction coefficients of the saturated samples are lower than those of the dried ones.
