Abstract:
Pb Sn Cu ternary alloy plating was prepared on the surface of Cu Pb alloy based bushing by brushing electroplating, while vanadium nitrogen sulfur coatings (coded as VNS coating) was prepared on the surface of crank journal by means of co permeation. The friction and wear behavior of the bushing crank journal pairs with and without surface modifying layers was examined respectively on four test rigs. The fatigue wear surface morphology of the bushes with brush electroplated and electroplated Pb Sn Cu ternary alloy coatings was observed with a scanning electron microscope. As the results, brushed Pb Sn Cu alloy coating effectively improves the fatigue resistance of the Cu Pb alloy based bushing, while the co permeated VNS coating obviously improves the tribological behavior of the crank journal. Moreover, the brush electroplated alloy coating and the co permeated VNS coating have good compatibility.
