Abstract:
Ti3SiC2 ceramics were prepared by infiltration-sintering technology, Up to now, it is a new method for preparing Ti3SiC2 ceramics. The phase composition of Ti3SiC2 ceramics were examined using XRD-7000 X-ray diffraction. The bending strength, friction and wear properties of Ti3SiC2 ceramics were investigated using an INSTRON-1195 Electronic universal testing machine and a HST-100 pin-on-disc friction and wear testing machine, respectively. The results showed that Ti3SiC2 ceramics can be prepared by infiltration-sintering technology. By increasing of Ti3SiC2 content, the flexural strength, friction coefficient and wear rate of samples decreased. The samples showed good wear resistance and the wear mechanism was also discussed. When the amount of Ti3SiC2 was higher than 76 wt%, the flexural strength increased obviously while friction coefficient and wear rate decreased obviously.
