Abstract:
Two dimensional dynamic friction contact of journal bearing has been studied, the effect of external load and friction coefficient on the non symmetry of contact pressure distribution is also discussed. It has been found that the pressure distribution is non symmetrical, the friction coefficient is the most important factor affecting the pressure distribution, it usually lowers the peak contact pressure and increases the contact area. The non symmetry becomes more obvious with increasing external load. The non symmetry of the pressure distribution corresponds to the non symmetry of wear. By analyzing the equivalent friction coefficient between journal and bearing under working condition, it has been found that there exists difference between the equivalent friction coefficient and the dynamic friction coefficient. It is recommended to use the former in the experimental research of journal bearing.
