Abstract:
The abrasive wear behavior and mechanism of an enamel coating were investigated with a rotary disk type abrasive wear machine. The worn surfaces of the enamel coating abraded with various sands were observed with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). As the results, the abrasive wear of enamel coating is governed by the sliding velocity and the type and size of the abrasive particles. The abrasive wear of enamel coating is characterized by spalling and microcrack, which are attributed to the formation of microcracks on the worn coating surface and the propagation of the microcracks.
