Abstract:
The wear of Ti(C,N) based cermets under
dry sliding and oil lubrication was studied. The results showed that Ti(C,N) based cermets had
low friction coefficients and high wear resistance. The wear resistance of the cermets
decreased with increase of the binder content. The major wear mechanisms of Ti(C,N) based
cermets were ploughing and the stripping of hard phases under oil lubrication;those under dry
sliding were surface adhesion and the stripping of hard phases. The surface adhesion trend
decreased with decrease of nickel content.
