Abstract:
The fretting fatigue behavior of JZ steel and the influence of fretting frequency and contact pressure on the fatigue life of the steel have been studied. The fretting fatigue fracture process of JZ steel has been investigated by means of fatigue testing and scanning electron microscopic analysis. It has been found that the fatigue strength of JZ steel decreases by about 50% at fretting condition. Its fretting fatigue strength decreases with increase of contact pressure below 80 MPa but comes to low stable value above 80 MPa. The fretted fatigue cracks of JZ steel were initiated by local stress concentration near the fretted and non fretted interface regions.
