Abstract:
Under the lubrication of bovine serum albumin, the tribological property of Graphene oxide (GO)/UHMWPE composites were investigated using the reciprocating friction testing apparatus. After the wear test, the surface topographies and the wear volume of these composites were observed and evaluated by a high-resolution scanning electron microscope and an Micro-XAM three-dimensional surface profiler. The results demonstrate that compared with the pure UHMWPE, although the steady coefficient of friction of the composite was reduced, but no markedly changes were observed with the gradual increasing of GO content. However, for the wear rate of these composites was reduced significantly as the increasing content of GO. Therefore, under the lubrication of BSA, the wear resistance of UHMWPE was improved markedly with the addition of GO filler.
