Abstract: The tribological characteristics of a high pressure sulfurized olefin as an additive in 500SN base stock were comparatively investigated with that of a traditional sulfurized olefin. The cause leading to the differences in the tribological behavior was discussed, and the application of the high pressure sulfurized olefin as a formulation component in gear oils was introduced as well.
