Abstract:
A review on the progress of research on tribology of fiber reinforced polymer composites is given. The effects of the optimal volume fraction of fiber, the orientation of fiber, the hybridization of fibers and the activation of fiber surface on the wear mechanisms and tribological properties of fiber reinforced composites have been summarized. The effects of counterface and its topography, temperature, PV value, and environment on the friction and wear properties of composites are also discussed. The future directions concerning the research of the tribological properties and wear mechanisms of FRPC have also been suggesed.
