Analysis of Electromagnetic Field for Thrust Electromagnetic Bearings

The magnetic field of an electromagnetic thrust bearing is analyzed with finite element method. The influence of the leakage on electromagnetic bearings is studied. According to the analysis results of the electromagnetic field of an ordinary electromagnetic thrust bearing, there is an optimal ratio of air gap for the electromagnetic thrust bearing to the disk and to the shaft. The result provides a guide to the electromagnetic thrust bearing design.
